The Trellis School is looking for a Music Therapist to join our dynamic related services team. We are a non-public school serving children grade Pre-K to 12 in Sparks, Maryland, just north of Hunt Valley, in Baltimore County. Our music therapist is an integral part of the Trellis School’s interdisciplinary team, facilitating exceptional outcomes for children with autism.

 

The Music Therapist will support children enrolled from grades Pre-K-12 at The Trellis School by providing one-on-one services and/or small group services as indicated on IEPs. The Trellis School program utilizes a strong team approach, with music therapists working closely alongside speech language pathologists, occupational therapists, teachers, BCBAs, and instructional assistants. Trellis Related Service Providers have a passion for working with children with autism and thrive in this collaborative environment. Caseload is very manageable and professional and clinical growth is strongly supported.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct services as indicated on student’s IEP using a variety of musical techniques and instruments.
  • Work collaboratively as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team 
  • Oversight of music therapy programs for students in our specialized school (PreK-grade 12)
  • Provide continual parent and staff training and education
  • Write progress reports and present levels for IEPs 
  • Maintain daily log note records
  • Engage with clients through interactive musical activities to enhance their emotional well-being.
  • Complete evaluations as needed

Qualifications

  • Credentialed Music therapist who holds a bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from an AMTA program
  • Maintain Maryland state license requirements
  • Experience working with children with autism
  • Ability to train others
  • Strong verbal communication and writing skills
